Lizzy lives in Oakland, California, where she spends most of her time supporting teachers as a math teacher coach in Oakland Unified School District. Her debut full-length album, See It All, comes out April 25 with Anxiety Blanket Records.
Co-produced with Geoff Saba (Oakland, CA), See It All is at times woody with striking orchestral arrangements that adorn Lizzy’s acoustic-folk songwriting-style. In other moments, listeners are submerged into synth-laced passages that expand upon her previous sound. Collectively, the 13 tracks serve as a departure from Lizzy’s EP with an ambitious production that is as experimental as it is authentic.

“We adore the imaginative brilliance of Mr. Gima, the new single from Lizzy Dutton. There’s a plethora of influence blended into this vibe. The writing recalls the works of Nick Drake, while the piano part could be the ghost of Vince Guaraldi. Dutton adds her own rare touch to this intoxicating blend, conjuring the inspiration of Joni Mitchell without over embellishing that influence.
There’s a genuine humanity to the collective performance, an authenticity that shines brights in the songs candid late breakdown. Altogether it cites an era when music was still real. Hear for yourself.”
“Turns out, a math teacher can make some enchanting music. Based in Oakland (but often on the move), Lizzy Dutton is a teacher by day, and an incredibly gifted singer and songwriter by night (or afternoon).”
“The music of “New Mexico” expresses the breathtaking beauty of the Land of Enchantment. An acoustic guitar plays melodies that are always gentle but never simple, while strings crackle and sing in the background; their long, sustained notes suggest a grand blue sky, almost intimidating in its sheer size.”
“Starting with a beautifully strummed American Primitivist opening on acoustic guitar - a windows wide open / front porch ramble - “Human” eventually slides into a shuffling, piano-flourish complete, Cale inspired droning strings and voice-soaring composition that displays the full power of Lizzy Dutton’s songwriting. The closing track on Dutton’s tape Amnesia, “Human” turns into a full throated composition that reaches for the rafters.”
“When Summer Ends” is a beautiful composition off the EP, and it instantly fills the room with an uplifting and hopeful atmosphere. The tender instrumental lines of violin, piano, and guitar neatly intertwine and mesmerize with their graceful pace. Dutton’s warm vocals effortlessly glide on these soothing, mellow audio waves. The song shines with softness, captivating aesthetics, and cozy sound.”
"My favorite song on this EP is the lovely little stunner, "Living Archetype" that feels like a mid cross generational kind of psych folk / baroque pop affair like an amalgam of Mazzy Star, Tori Amos and Flo and the Machine. I absolutely adore the chord shapes, the plucking violin strings, the kind of interwoven dance of electric lead guitar and solo violin and, of course, Lizzy's emotional vocal aesthetic.”
“New EP Amnesia sees Dutton utilise a combination of violin, guitar, pedal steel and piano to weave soundscapes both intensely personal and more generally familiar. Spaces conjured from the interplay of love and loss, each haunting the other, destined to always coexist.”
“Cradled in delicacy, feathers and dream filled clouds is exactly what listening to ‘Lullaby’ by Lizzy Dutton feels like. Tucked in-between the feathers of a shadowing sun, Lizzy sooths us into a dream-like state, offering the comfort of the stars whilst remaining a constant like the moon.”
“At nearly 6 minutes ‘Human’ can afford to take its time so initially we were dealt an array of pastoral waves, nothing that might cock the ear but then plenty that has you hanging on to see what comes next. And patience and curiousity in this case is rewarded as Lizzy Dutton spins something that is undeniably folk but also wispy to a degree that we felt we had at least found a lullaby for our adult years.”
